James Rodney Lipscomb Jr.

CEO; Perspective Records, LLC.

Husband and father of four.

Since 2008, creating beautiful music has been my passion.

I started writing poetry in grade school, which transcended into writing short stories. Later, I began writing rap verses over some of the greatest emcee's beats. I was inspired by Styles P, Jay-Z & Notorious BIG due to their story telling abilities, which painted a vivid and familiar picture for me.

I spent my childhood living in various low-income housing projects, in both North & South Carolina. The motivation to change my reality manifested from my perspective of the atrocities occurring in my neighborhood, which became the foundation on which I built my sound.

I recorded my first Studio Album [City Limit] in 2016. Since then I have released 4 studio albums and recorded numerous music videos.

I have sold over 375,000 records, receiving praise from some of the greatest artist in the industry. My main focus has always been shining light on the obstacles we face as young black and brown men/women, who grew up less fortunate, but never allowed our circumstances to get in the way of our dreams.

Perspective Records, LLC was established in tandem with Perspective Records Studio in June 2022.

I am currently serving in the United States Air Force (16 years), having traveled to over 130 countries, setting foot on 6 Continents during my 9 year tenure as a Phoenix Raven.

I am stationed at Minot AFB, ND where I serve as an ADAPT/Mental Health Counselor. 

I'm currently writing/recording my 5th Studio Album which will be released, Spring of 2025.
