James Rodney Lipscomb Jr.

"Lip"

Husband and father of two.

Creating music is my passion.

I spent my childhood living in various low-income housing projects, in North & South Carolina. My music is built on the foundation of what I witnessed happening around me and the motivation to change my reality. I started writing poetry in grade school and later began writing verses to some of the Greatest Emcee's instrumentals. I was inspired by Styles P, Jay-Z & The Notorious BIG due to their storytelling abilities, which painted a vivid and familiar picture for me.

I recorded my first Studio Album [True Success Document] in 2014.

In 2022 I released my 4th studio project [Dust Off the Mic], which further displays my storytelling capabilities and love/hate relationship with Social Media. My main focus has always been shining a light on the obstacles we face as young black men/women who grew up less fortunate, but never allowed our circumstances to get in the way of our dreams.

I'm an active duty member of the USAF, (15 years) holding the previous title of a

Phoenix Raven however, I am currently a Mental Health Technician.

Since starting an independent record label and opening a studio,

as an artist/songwriter/producer/engineer, my short-term goal is to produce & release  my 5th studio project in the Spring of 2023, while creating jobs for young entrepreneurs with like minds, who share a common goal of creating beautiful music.
